At Del Aire Elementary, we are dedicated to providing a well-rounded, dynamic education that prepares students for success both inside and outside the classroom. Here's a glimpse into the academic experience at our school:

Student-Centered Learning

  • Balanced Technology: We integrate technology as a powerful learning tool while ensuring students find balance in their digital use.
  • Growth Mindset: Our classrooms foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to embrace challenges and persist in their learning journey.
  • Problem-Solving Across Disciplines: We focus on critical thinking and problem-solving skills that apply to every subject area.
  • GATE Program: Advanced learners in grades 3-5 can participate in our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program, designed to challenge and inspire.
  • Mandarin Immersion: Our fee-based Ni Hao program offers Mandarin language immersion, giving students the opportunity to develop bilingual skills early on.

Curriculum Overview

English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Wonders Anthology: A comprehensive reading program that includes leveled readers, online resources, and assessments to support all learners.
  • Research and Inquiry Projects: Emphasis on developing strong research skills through engaging projects.
  • Small Reading Groups: Small group instruction for TK-3 ensures personalized reading support.
  • RTI - Reading Intervention: Dedicated teachers provide additional reading intervention for students who need it.
  • Daily Writing Practice: Students participate in Writers Workshop to hone their writing skills.

Science/Technology/Engineering/Arts/Math (STEAM)

  • Science: Our science curriculum is NGSS aligned and includes programs like Mystery Science and BrainPop, with a focus on project-based learning.
  • Technology: With a 1:1 Chromebook program, every student has access to technology. Our youngest learners also use iPads. Programs like Keyboarding Without Tears and Typing.com help students build essential tech skills.
  • Engineering: Through PLTW (Project Lead The Way), students engage in hands-on lessons in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science. We also offer robotics and coding opportunities like Hour of Code, Tynker, and Code.org.
  • Art: Students explore their creativity with performing arts, music, and visual arts lessons.
  • Math: Using Eureka Math2 and ST Math, students develop strong math skills through a research-driven approach. Family Math Nights invite parents to join the learning fun.
